Caustic Grip
|
One of my favorite Industrial CDs of all time. Yes, I have had my history with this band. I can be grateful for them, because without them, VAC would of never been signed. I owe the initial fame I have to this band. This to me is one of the best Industrial LPs ever forged in all of history. This is aggressive, metallic, rhythmic, musical, and psycho all at the same time. This lp contains many industrial anthems, some of my favorites. I rated this band back then above all of my favs now. Back when I was a teen I had such a high regard for this band. Now, I have lost a ton of respect for them. Still, even with my hate for the band now, I listen to this and love it.
I saw this tour, I left early because some skinheads wanted to kick my ass. LOL, (memories). I thought FLA kick so much ass live back then, they used to have these big metal sheets and things they would bang on, it was pure industrial gold. On this lp, my favorite track is probably Provision. I love the chorus and the lyrics on that track, really sings to my soul. 2nd fav is Iceolate, really cool lyrics, very psychedelic and angsty. Other notable tracks are Resist, Overkill, and Mental Distortion. This is pure industrial, angry vocals, big drums and weird noises and mechanical noises. Frantic synth lines and bass sounds. I think this stuff is trippy as fuck. When I was young, and to this day, I still don’t hear anything quite like this.
This is seriously one of my favorite industrial lps to listen to still to this day. A Classic. You can buy this lp really cheap on amazon. Go get it now if you are an industrial head. I give this a 10 out of 10. Click Here to buy Caustic Grip by Front Line Assembly.

The guitarist for Caustic Grip (and who’s work was sampled for Millennium) is Jeff Stoddard aka Roughhausen. He is still making music that puts FLA to shame. Check him out at http://www.roughhausen.com
I’ve had the pleasure of doing some sound design and co-writing on his album “The Agony of the Beat” and a remix on his ep “Someone’s Got to Pay”.
Honestly folks, this guy is the real deal. If you only buy one album this year, make it “The Agony of the Beat”
Chunky electronic goodness.
yo i agree, early front line is rawer then anything that has ever comed in my ear pussies. you got screwed over by them big time and i dont blame you hating them now. by the way i thought your sado sachoism mix was off the hook. if you like this early stuff check out utah saints and uberzone. its early synth similar to this only 100 times less hard then this. there is nothing in this world industrial wise that can own up to this cd.
I agree older FLA is sooooooooooooooooooooo much better than the new stuff they got rich fat and lazy. it is like hey just keep pumping out the same old songs with a new name. The guitar guy from Roughhausen I got his CDs from Shinto and I was really surprised. there are a couple of classic EBM stompy songs but there is so much more this guy actually writes music. The album is better than the ep but probably because it is longer
Caustic Grip is my favorite FLA album, and in the top 10 of all my favorite albums, up there with Terror Against Terror’s “Psychological Warfare Technologies”, which is similar in some ways, it might not have the sequencing that CG has, but for 1989 it was a fucking great gritty piece of electronic work too.
Leeb has said the next FLA album will be a return to the early FLA sound of Caustic Grip. I don’t think that’s possible personally. I’m not fond of the influence the new kids he brought on board have had on FLA’s sound and direction.
