Multiplayer/Single Player: 9.5
Very easy to hop on the playstation network and get a game up and running. You can play against anyone in the world from anywhere. The lag is ok, works as good as the ps3 version. This is perfect for trips, tours, traveling with friends. I used to think that I was amazing at this game, because I could own all my friends. Back in the day, Fro and I used to play this game religiously on the dreamcast and his original xbox. This brings those days back, too bad there is no team battle mode though. I really miss team battle mode. You can make your own characters and play them online as well. In the quick match single player mode, the AI is great, the best AI I have ever experienced in a game. Another great thing about this version is that most all of the characters are unlocked form the get go, you don’t have to play the single player forever to unlock all the playable characters. Most of the characters from the past soul calibur games are in here!!!!
Presentation: 9.7
For a psp game, this is amazing. The menus are easy to navigate, look good, and are simple. Easy to get into any game type. This lives up to the Soul Calibur standard. The look and feel is here, they also added a couple of new characters, Kratos via god of war makes his debut and fits right in and in my opinion simply the best character added to any of the version of the games previously. Kratos takes the cake. Kick ass combos and distance attacks. Dampierre also makes his debut and fits right in and adds a great new funny character to the fold. The cool thing that they brought in from the ps3 version is the character creation mode. This can yeild some hilarious results. I wish you could make them more exaggerated over all, but it is really satisfying.

Visuals: 9.4
On the PSP, this is hands down the best looking fighting game on the unit to date. Soul Calibur has always been a litmus test for graphics on any console it has appeared on. This time it push the PSP to the edge. This is why I will never buy a Nintendo product, they never look and play this good! Never. Screen shots never do psp games justice, when you see it running on the psp it looks amazing on it’s screen, do not be fooled by these screenshots.

Audio: 8.5
Typical sword play sounds, and really cheesy dialog and voice acting. But you gotta love it. Some of the voices are so annoying and fun. The music is the same old symphonic Soul Calibur type music you hear in everyone of the previous games. I remember it blowing me away back in the dreamcast days, not so much anymore. Time for something new guys.

Game Mechanics: 9.5:
This is where Soul Calibur really shines. It has the complexity of a really advanced fighter, But can be picked up and button mashed with success as well. People new to the game can really jump in with out too much trouble. It really plays just like the old ones did, and I prefer using the Dpad as well. Move in 3d, jump, crouch, and this game has great distance and running attacks. I used to play these games int he arcade and win money. Now days I hope online and my face get’s used as a mop on the floor.
There is the Quick match mode, that lets you play against a random list of characters that comes up, and some of them are home made character created style enemies. The AI in this is amazing, much more human and unpredictable. Harder than any of the other Soul Calibur games. I think this is good though. There is the Gauntlet mode which is the story mode, but they fuse the instructions into it, so its the story/tutorial mode. Kind of annoying if you know everything about the previous games honestly.

Replay: 9.5
This is the kind of game I can play over and over again. I find myself playing it right before I go to bed. So cool. It doesn’t get old for me. The online play, the character creation, and the cool quick match arcade mode really makes me come back again and again.

Total Score: 9.6 out of 10:
I cannot give high enough marks for this hand held fighting game. It looks great, Plays great, easy and hard, varied. Click Here to Buy Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny for PSP.
