Opening words: I originally bought this to check out the Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta that came with the pre order of this game. This game had a lot of hype to live up to. Does it?
Presentation: 9.2
The menus, the look and feel, everything has it’s own style and character. I am really impress with this new IP. I can see a bright future for this game. I bet money that there will be a sequel. I really like the bleak run down look of the city. It really looks like something really bad happened. I love how the pedestrians behave, and change according to you being good or evil. It has a very comic book like feel to it. When the cut scenes happen, you see slides like a comic book. Cool.

Single Player: 8.4
This is a sand box kind of game. With that said, it borrows from GTA, but leaves out driving(which i think sucks). It also borrows from Assassins Creed, you can climb up on just about everything. Over all, the way the game plays is pretty cool, you level up and can become really powerful, the enemies get harder and harder as well, and if you do not upgrade the right way, the game can be rather difficult. You can help people, or just kill everyone and be selfish, the way you play determines the outcome of the story. Some of the non story levels become tedious and repetitive and that really annoyed me and kept me from giving this a higher score.

Visuals: 8.7
Everything looks like a grimy GTA 4. It does look a little better than gta 4, but not much. The visual fx are what keep it looking from really bad, once the action starts, explosions and electricity really makes the game come alive and look really cool. The attention to detail is better than prototype for sure. But still, most sandbox style games never have the best graphics because the engine has to do so much.

Audio: 8.0
The music is really well done, the ambience in the city really adds to the feel of the game. The voice acting is um, I dunno, OK, nothing great, but nothing horrid.

Game Mechanics: 8.0:
It controls like a first person shooter meets GTA. Climbing is relatively easy although I found it kind of annoying at times like how I would want to jump on something, but it wouldn’t stick, then when I don’t want to just on to something it does stick. This didn’t happen all the time but enough to annoy me at certain points. There are some levels that are more like a platforming game, when you go underground into the sewers. I liked the platforming aspect but it felt like an after thought compared to what you do in the rest of the game. The game felt like it was broken into sections, annoying non story elements which help you get points to unlock powers. Then the underground parts to get upgrades. Then the mains story. Two are done well, while one is annoying and tedious in my opinion. I also did not like the map indicator. This was such a pain in the ass to tell where to go and what to do. There is this color fade thing, and you hit a button and it will pulsate in the direction you have to go, I was not fond of it. Over all the over the shoulder shooting was good. Being able to move in all directions and battle was intense. It is good, but not perfect. The short comings in the game did not ruin the game at all though. The skills you unlock are really cool You get different powers depending on weather you play good(blue) or evil(red). The upgrades in your skills really makes this game a lot of fun to play once you advance far in the game you really feel powerful.

Story: 8.5
The story is done in that comic book fashion. The voice acting and plot points also have this kind of generic comic book feel. If you love comics this is great, if not, its um, OK. Some cool plot twists, and unexpected things in the end. The story makes you want to play the game to find out what is next. Well done in this aspect.

Replay: 8.2
Good and Evil. Being able to play both ways, will change the story. Both modes are like different games. Like fallout 3 is. Kind of rpg like in some aspects, but this is still an action game. With a comic element as the story. I will play through this at least two times. More than I can say for most single player games.

Total Score: 8.4 out of 10:
Is this a system seller AAA title? No. Is this a good game? YES. If you like sand box comic super powers, interesting comic like story telling, this is a must. The game play is good, it’s not perfect, but it does come close. This is a ps3 exclusive, and it is a nice addition. I like this a lot more than prototype as well. GO BUY A PS3 NOW, ONLY $299 and it does everything! and Slim!

I am in debate on getting either a slim or a reg 40gb PS3. at my work at the moment there is a bundle that comes with remote, HDMI cable, Little Big Planet game, Transformer the game, Spider-Man3 BluRay, PS3 controller, und 12weeks of free rentals, but the bundle is for the older 40GB PS3.. I didn’t like Spider-Man 3 at all… Nor would i have interest in playing Transformers the game… So i dont think it would be a big loss… that bundle is now 399. but the slim is 299.. the slim still sounds like a good choice. I would pick this console over any gaming system.. Since i’ve been the Sony customer for awhile.. But would i get rid ov my PS2 und all my gaming library where i would get lil cash from?
