Opening Words: Very happy with the remix they did for “Caustic Disco” I wanted to help promote them more because they did such a good job for me. My buddy krztov introduced me to them, and one of the guys goes by mindcage on the game Socom on the ps3, I have played a few rounds with him. Any how, they hail from DC. They question the mainstream, they have rage and disdain, something that is lacking in the world these days. The have been in video games like Project Gotham Racing 3 on the 360. They won a NIN remix contest and got to hang out with Trent. This band seems to do it all.

VAC: How are you doing?

Exeris: Angsty as usual… you’d think it’s a job requirement.

J: Sober, unfortunately. But I’m trying to fix that.

VAC: What’s in the works?

Exeris: We’re about to release the 2nd album for our side project Grains of Sound… it’s a 3 volume CD release of music for altered states – one ambient, one downtempo, and one uptempo.

J: We also have a Mindless Faith remix album that’s underway.
It’s just more shit like we’ve always done, but with a more club-oriented focus like the VAC remix. Songs that are too outside the box don’t get a lot of traction, so why fucking bother?

VAC: What got you into industrial and goth music?

Exeris: A dark soul and hearing it via skateboarding friends

MindCage: Probably just hearing bands like NIN/Ministry back in the day and a lot of the bands that were on Fifth Column.

J: My brother said it would get me lots of money and pussy. I didn’t realize he was being sarcastic.

VAC: What do you think of the scene?

Exeris: still too stuck in the 80s.

J: Goth isn’t dead, it just deserves to die.

VAC: Favorite web site?

Exeris: dailyshow.com

MindCage: Textsfromlastnight.com or lamebook.com

VAC: What DAW do you use and why?

Exeris: Now using Ableton Live. We used Cubase up until 2004, but it wouldn’t let you do simple things like re-ordering the fx chain.

VAC: ANALOG OR DIGITAL?

Exeris: Whatever works… there’s usually problems with both.

VAC: What do you think about world politics right now?

Exeris: Well, we’re pretty much fucked

VAC: The united states?

Exeris: Very fucked

VAC: What is the strangest thing you are into?

J: Making guitars sound like synths

Exeris: and making synths sound like guitars.

VAC: List your top ten favorite lps.

J:
Dead Kennedys – In God We Trust
Refused – The Shape of Punk to Come
Metallica – Master of Puppets
Alien Sex Fiend – Another Planet
Future Sound of London – Lifeforms
Ministry – Land of Rape and Honey
God Speed You! Black Emperor – Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada
Tom Waits – Bone Machine
The Binary Marketing Show – Destruction of Your Own Creation
Aphex Twin – Select Ambient Works Vol II

Exeris:
The Cure – Pornography
Social Distortion – Mommies Little Monster
Nine Inch Nails – Downward Spiral
VA – (Instinct Records) CHILLOUT Phase Two
Fields of The Nephilim – The Nephilim
Gullwing’s Inside Out skateboarding video soundtrack
TSOL – Revenge
Descendents – Somery
Agent Orange – Living in Darkness
Carbon Based Lifeforms – Hydroponic Garden

VAC: Who is your biggest Influence?

J: Vodka

Exeris: and other intoxicants

MindCage: Billy Ocean.

VAC: What are you reading these days?

Exeris: The writing thats been on the wall for a while now.

J: Not much. Maybe Shel Silverstein now and then. I only have a limited
amount of time, and I’d rather just write and record more music.

VAC: How does your band operate? Who does what?

Exeris: I make Jasin do everything, and then Rick takes all the credit.

VAC: Do you have a formula on how you start songs?

Exeris: do something cool, rinse, lather, repeat.

MindCage: I think Jasin’s formula is vodka, beer, Twinkies, back to vodka. Then he usually starts a song.

VAC: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

MindCage – Back to the Netherlands.

Exeris: Yeah, I’d love to go back to Holland, but I’d go many other places too.

J: I’d stay home in my studio working on music… I don’t like to go anywhere.

VAC: Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Exeris: Chocolate chip cookies and blondes.

J: Vodka.

Mindcage: The Golden Girls.

VAC: Favorite food?

Exeris: aloo cabbage.

MindCage: Moroccan or Thai.

J: Vodka.

VAC: Dark and old, New sinister and cyber?

Exeris: The best elements of each blended together.

MindCage – Definitely over the cookie monster vocals “hellektro” or whatever goofy genre you want to call it.

VAC: Favorite art?

Exeris: Giger.

J: Whatever other people find distasteful.

VAC: Favorite movies?

Exeris: I Heart Huckabees.

J: Mulholland Drive.

MindCage – Devil’s Advocate or maybe Swordfish.

VAC: If you could punch one person in the face as hard as you could,
who would it be?

Exeris: Wow, are you reading my mind? I’ve been bitching lately how
I’d like to punch God in the face, if he exists, I mean what kind of a
gift is a life of suffering. If not God, any corrupt power elite will do.

J: Exeris

MindCage: Bryan Erickson for when he snipes me on SOCOM. I kid…

VAC: Thank you guys for taking the time to answer my silly questions. Good luck in the future. I hope some day I can return the favor on the remix. Who knows maybe we can tour together some day. I’m open. Any how. If you like what you read and hear on this page, go buy some stuff from this band. Click Here to buy music from Mindless Faith.

One of my favorite Industrial CDs of all time. Yes, I have had my history with this band. I can be grateful for them, because without them, VAC would of never been signed. I owe the initial fame I have to this band. This to me is one of the best Industrial LPs ever forged in all of history. This is aggressive, metallic, rhythmic, musical, and psycho all at the same time. This lp contains many industrial anthems, some of my favorites. I rated this band back then above all of my favs now. Back when I was a teen I had such a high regard for this band. Now, I have lost a ton of respect for them. Still, even with my hate for the band now, I listen to this and love it.

I saw this tour, I left early because some skinheads wanted to kick my ass. LOL, (memories). I thought FLA kick so much ass live back then, they used to have these big metal sheets and things they would bang on, it was pure industrial gold. On this lp, my favorite track is probably Provision. I love the chorus and the lyrics on that track, really sings to my soul. 2nd fav is Iceolate, really cool lyrics, very psychedelic and angsty. Other notable tracks are Resist, Overkill, and Mental Distortion. This is pure industrial, angry vocals, big drums and weird noises and mechanical noises. Frantic synth lines and bass sounds. I think this stuff is trippy as fuck. When I was young, and to this day, I still don’t hear anything quite like this.

This is seriously one of my favorite industrial lps to listen to still to this day. A Classic. You can buy this lp really cheap on amazon. Go get it now if you are an industrial head. I give this a 10 out of 10. Click Here to buy Caustic Grip by Front Line Assembly.

Opening words: WOW. Slant 6 has redeemed themselves in my eyes, bringing this game up to a new level. No joke. I am impressed. If you are new to socom, please read my older review by Clicking here for my Socom Confrontation 1.5 review.

New Trophies

Whats new in 1.60:
New Special Forces
The Dutch KCT and the Italian COMSUBIN Special Forces teams are featured in this update. Each Force is provided with two new heads, adding to the existing pool of selectable Special Forces heads. Additionally, they each get a light, medium and heavy variant of their own torso and legs as with other Special Forces and they each have their own Special Force-specific camouflage patterns and headgear. New voice-overs have been added for the new Special Forces characters as well.

New Weapons
Two new primary weapons will be immediately accessible to players who select to play as the new Special Forces: the 417 assault rifle for the Dutch KCT and the SPAS-15 shotgun for the Italian COMSUBIN Special Forces. In addition, four new weapons will be available to all players regardless of assigned Special Force: the 9mm Sub and M82A1A for the Mercenaries and the AK-74 and SR-25 for the Commandos.

Pros:
They really nailed it. It plays a little better. Still not arcade fast like socom 2, but it just feels better than it did. The new maps make this so much fun, finally sniper maps. The graphics also look slightly better than before. If you pick Cold Front games, you never have to play quarantine again. The thermal scope(the thermal scope has 3 modes, so cool) and the sniping in the new maps has really made me re work my controls, I customized mine, now my l1 is zoom in, and l2 is zoom out, and dpad up is my quick select, and my r2 is my chat button/command, and my left stick pushed in is run, more like call of duty controls. These new controls make it way easier to zoom in and out for thermal scope, and it has totally changed the gaming experience for me. Now I am very careful around corners, and always use the thermal scope to look for snipers so I can call them out. I do like the new classic maps, Blizzard(older socom map remake) is my least favorite(good for sniping), Night Stalker(older socom map remake) rocks and is wintery, with places to go into. Vigilance(older socom map remake) is really cool too, and is great for sniping. The real winners are the two new ones that slant 6 made. Yes these are so much better than the ones they made on confrontation desert themed maps that came with the original game. Entrapment, this map is amazing on breach or extract in the medly modes. My favorite map in socom so far, a subway station that is under construction. Uprising, which is kind of like Vigilance, but better. I am floored at how good these maps are.

The new guns are amazing, I switched from French(famas junkie) to the Dutch(417 junkie now). Finally an assault rifle that is better than the mercenaries ak47, more range, and more damage, this thing is great for long distance, and good up close, its a 1 or 2 shot kill in most cases like how the m14 is, but you have a 20 round clip. Cool. The ak107 is good, has a lot of recoil though. The ak 74 is really accurate and better than the m164a for sure. I just wish they gave the mercenaries one of these guns instead of the VAL, which is good up close, but sucks at a distance. Now you have special CE classes, if you select one, you will unlock grips, and new guns, but only for the class you select, and you only get points for using the gun in the class you select. Sucks though because if you switch to another, you will lose all your CE points and special unlocks for that class, so its a 1 class at a time deal. Still cool, and it does not turn the game into call of duty, its only a couple of unlocks in each class. Does not turn the tables at all like the call of dukey stuff does. Seriously, I have been playing this non stop since it was launched weeks ago. This really made the game something new. The arms race game mode is pretty cool, I really like it , makes things fresh. 3 missle launchers, as mercs you set them to fire, as seals you must stop them. I feel like I am playing a new game. 1.60, and the DLC really made this more fun and exciting again. I want more DLC damn it, more maps, new and old. The snow theme really kicks ass. Now I want jungle maps!

Cons:
They made the night maps so damn dark, which is really stupid, because in real life, your eyes would adjust to the dark, and would no way be that dark when there are stars in the sky. They ruined the game if you don’t download the DLC, because people who have the DLC do not get to play people who did not download the dlc. They took out certain match types in the rooms, and did not do a good job of making it easy to play both, you can only play both old and new maps if you do the quick match game type. This is stupid, there should be rooms where you can do all maps. Not just cold front, or just the original ones, STUPID. On blizzard, you can shoot the snowman and make him explode, even if you shoot him in the face. This is totally stupid. You still cannot switch your weapons if you are the last man to die in a match. You always revert back to your default load out after a game ends, and I wish there was a toggle for this. Sometimes I want to just keep playing with what I selected in the game, if I don’t die last, I can change it again tho, but it’s annoying, I want the option. They force you to buy the DLC if you want to play this game at all. They took 3 demolition rooms away, that sucks. WTF, it takes us way longer to find games now, sure quick match works, but man, everyone leaves after one match in quick match, and quick match is where all the lame ass newbs show up with out head sets, they don’t communicate, and with out that, your team always loses. So, with this dlc, they took three steps forward, and 1 step back. So despite this BS, it is still a really great game.

Total Score: 9.0 out of 10:
Over all, this made this game so much better to me. It made me raise the score from 7.7 to 9.0. I don’t know why I don’t score this game higher, honestly, I play this more than any other online game in the history of me playing multiplayer games. (my stats: 2143 games played, 272 hours total) I don’t think I have even played quake and those old pc shooters as much as I have played socom on PS3. Now that this is a little more polished and most all of the bugs that made the game suck ass like shooting over railings, reloading on debris and so many other things, like retarded AI for the VIPs has all been ironed out. They did mess up a few things, and there is still a little more that could be added and fixed. But really, I feel like this is finally out of the beta stage. This finally feels solid. I am completely sold on this. Now if the rest of the world would wake up and realize what a unique and totally better shooter this is over games like halo, call of duty, and anything like that. I wanted to give this a 9.5, and I would if all the bugs and the annoying things get worked out of it. This is my favorite shooter of all time, and it’s online only. I cannot wait for single player modes, and more DLC. Or Socom 4. I will say this as well, I don’t like socom 2, you run super fast, and die way to fast. Its an arcade game, as to where this socom is closer to SIM, not a sim per say, but closer to it. I like that you don’t run 90 miles an hour like in socom 2. I’m glad it doesn’t have all the cheap jump shoot shit socom 2 has. The graphics are way better than any other socom, and the sound and realism is amazing. Nuff said. Go buy this DLC if you own the game, it will only set you back 15 bucks to get an entirely new gaming experience. So if you sold this game in frustration long ago, go pick it up used, get the updates and spend the 15, and you will be happy I bet.

Here are the new maps with names so you can call out locations to your teammates. Very cool.

Opening words: Big production, lots of new tweaks. Is this enough? Does this game live up to the hype? It sells and sells and sells.

Presentation: 8.5
No frills, perfect. Menus are easy to navigate. The look and feel is great, the loading screens that tell you the intel are really well done. The characters are ok. The way the story is told is ok.

Single Player: 9.0
Very cool. My favorite out of all the call of duty games to date. They flank you, hit you from all sides. The game play is spot on. This is a ton of fun, even with the controversial part of the game on or off. I played through the controversial part. It made me laugh, but I know it’s just a game. IT’S JUST A GAME. I like how they push the envelope. I give them props for that. I just think they should make it even more realistic on both sides of the war. There are a few parts in the single player campaign that I loved, going to DC, and fighting in the american suburbs in a taco bell, now that really made me go WOW(never have seen this before in a game, but I some how fear that this will be our reality soon, like hollywood and these games are just a prelude of what is to come in real life). The only bad thing, IT’S TOO FUCKING SHORT! About 4 to 6 hours.

modern-warfare-2-screenshot-8

Multiplayer: 7.5
Ok, there are pros and cons. They really tweaked this since the last game. Pro’s first. The spec ops mode is AMAZING. 2 player combat missions. This is so cool if you have a buddy to play with. We spent a lot of time doing this and having a blast! If they add more DLC missions of this, I will be so happy, now to the normal multiplayer aspect of the game. The upgrade part of the multi player is really well done. This is fast paced, hop in, and have a fun arcade like fps experience. They have host migration now, so if the host drops out, it will pause the game and find a new host. The guns are much different this time around. I really like some of the perks, how now you get random crates when you get 5 or 6 kills, you have to get it before the others after you throw down the helicopter marker for the drop. This was so much fun. The new kill streak perks in the game really kicked so much ass, AT FIRST. now the CONS: Let me start by saying the hit detection in this game is a joke. Half of the time on the kill replays, you can see the cross airs not even on the target but the shots are still hitting the target. WOW. The hit detection is super easy, and the auto aim as well, in my opinion ruins the game, and gives skill to people who really have none. The kill streak perks have now lead to the worst thing “CAMPING”.

The above video pretty much nails the problem. The CAMPING ruins a game like this that is based on fast twitch arcade fun. Now it’s read a book, roast some marshmallows and pitch a tent, and wait for some bad guys. NOT FUN AT ALL. and playing against these jerks that do this, really takes the piss out of all of it. Ok, Also, there are perks in the game that make it so you can run fast and knife people from 10 fucking feet away. A guy in my clan thinks this is fun. I think it is completely stupid. Super human strength and agility. Man, they really fucked this up, I would rather go back to the original modern warfare and play shipment with my buddies than any of this new Camping shit. Really a shame because the new multiplayer maps rock, the air port, and the house in the woods. Some of the best yet. They made the famas burst fire only making the gun useless in my opinion. Sorry but I would rather play the old version of this game, uncharted 2, borderlands, or SOCOM than this online. The multiplayer was fun before people figured out the camping. Now, forget this frustrating piece of shit multiplayer mode, only spec ops is worth playing on this game.

951944_20090619_790screen031-640x

Visuals: 8.5
They barely made it better. The blood splash looks better. On the ps3, it’s decent looking, but no where close to uncharted 2 or killzone 2. Not even close. This game looks more like dlc for the original modern warfare to me. Good, but not really coming close to being the best, uncharted 2 owns the title now.

951944_20090619_790screen023-640x

Audio: 7.0
Nothing ground breaking. Typical. Voice acting is ok in parts. The in game chatter is really well done on the single player part of the game though. I still think Socom has the best sounds.

951944_20090619_790screen020-640x

Game Mechanics: 8.5:
For newbs, this is as easy as it gets. Its tight, fast, responsive and really well done. The problem is that the hit detection in this game is far to forgiving. Other wise, this is just like any of the other call of duty games. I do really like the guns, and the riot shield is a lot of fun at first. I am not a huge fan of auto aim glitch twitch gaming mechanics, and this is why I always go back to socom in the end.

951944_20090619_790screen018-640x

Story: 6.5
The story is hard to follow, you jump around in the game, and take on the role of several different soldiers before the game comes to an end. This is poorly executed. I felt like I was playing DLC, not a new full game. Can you remember the story from the last modern warfare? I don’t really. This is the same. Forgettable.

951944_20090618_790screen001-640x

Replay: 7.0
With all the other stuff that is out, like the new socom dlc, uncharted 2 etc, this really bores me. They made the main multiplayer worse with the pro camping game perks. The spec ops rocks, but once you beat them all, hmm, boring. If new spec ops dlc comes out. I will keep this around for that. For everything else, it’s a rent.

951943_20090601_790screen002-640x

Total Score: 7.9 out of 10:
Over all I was disappointed. I am glad I waited to review this after my initial glee for the game wore off. This is a RENT. Camping ruined the arcade run and gun fun. They offered no fix for this camping either. If you like camping, by all means, buy this game. It is worth playing. The single player is great, but super short. The spec ops is mega fun with a buddy, but there are not enough missions. The regular online multiplayer mode is CAMP FEST CENTRAL. Lame.

I discovered her on the Tim and Eric awesome show great job, TV program, the is really hit or miss. I like it sometimes, but some times it makes my eyes and ears bleed profusely. One of the huge highlights were the two Maria Bamford Sketches.

I really like weird comedians that don’t do the typical lame crap. She is above the rest on being strange.
