This lp starts out kind of strange and disjointed. The Opening track Arrow stutters and flutters in a cool way. This lp has a lot of pop appeal and is much different from their previous offering “The Con”. This act continues to evolve and change. This song is more focused in style and sound, which is good and bad depending on what you like.

Hell – Tegan and Sara

Tegan and Sara | MySpace Video

But what I really liked over all is this 80s vibe the lp seems to have. I can hear the missing persons, devo influences. The lp even has a few songs that have a real punk edge. Again, their vocal harmonies are really strong and have a lot of character. They sing in a really distinct way and tone that automatically tells you, this is Tegan and Sara.

Strangely, the song “On Directing” is kind of silly. But it hypnotizes me, the synth bleep leads. It kind of reminds me of the new young pony club(another new band I really like) it has a strong bass line that drives it. I hear a lot less acoustic guitar on this lp over all and more electric guitars. The Video below is a live version of one of my favorite tracks on the lp “The Cure” and yes it does kind of sound like the band The Cure. I love going to their shows, they do talk a lot and tell jokes and act silly, its cute and silly and entertaining. I find them adorable.

The song Northshore has this punk feel to it. Kind of choppy guitar chord riffs and a strange verse line. Nightwatch really reminds me of crossing Missing Persons with the new young pony club. I really like the strange chorus in this song. Alligator is one of the songs that is a bit to poppy for me. What I really like about this LP over all though is the weird timing on some of the songs. Kind of reminds me of prog rock like rush, sometimes their bass tones remind me of old old rush, but the songs sound pop even though they have these strange rhythms.

My favorite songs are, Arrow, Don’t Rush, Hell, and The Cure. This lp does not seem to have the hit power that the con had, or so jealous had. This is a more even keel effort, a consistent effort. I do like it, but not my fav this year or anything. I am a Tegan and Sara fan though, after seeing them live, they won me over for life. I give this lp a 7 out of 10. This band amazes me. I have always been a sucker for really well done deep low vocals, and not many can pull it off in a way that I really enjoy. This band dabbles in the 80s dark folk roots like death in june and current 93, but adds a more pop edge to it.

Their sound production is excellent. I strived to make things sound this good, and fall a little short, kind of depressing to me. I really love how full their mixes sound. His voice is amazing. I love the lyrics a lot as well.

I seriously think he kind of tells stories with his words like Ronan Harris from VNV nation, but he does it way better with a much better tone in his voice as well. I love acoustic guitars that sound dark and foreboding.

I thought no one was making great music that had weight, darkness and heart anymore. All the old idols are not as good as they used to be. Finally a new breed is bringing the dark goth edge back to music in a very polished way.

My favorite song on this LP is To Die Among Strangers. I love the the “ohhhhhhhh ” back ground vocals, it sounds haunted. I love the drums. It reminds me of the old music I loved so much growing up, like a cross between the older mission UK, The Sisters of Mercy mixed with Current 93 and Death in June. I am older, and I find that my older friends like this, while some of the new kids really have new clue when it comes to dark folk or old goth. Other notable tracks are Swords to Rust Hearts to rust, The Accidents of Gesture, Who fell in love with the sea, and The Secret Sons of Europe. I highly recommend this to fans of old sisters of mercy, death in june, c93, old mission uk, and Leonard Cohen. I give this lp a 7 out of 10. Click Here to Buy Rome: Flowers from Exile. I wish they had an american label, it is so hard to get ahold of their stuff. And their old stuff is out of print. Pisses me off!! This stuff is new for fucks sake, Please print up more!!!!

I am really happy about TV again. With heros(which I am bored with now), and all these new syfy TV shows, I am really happy even though star trek is not on the air with new content anymore. Yes, I am a bit of a sci-fi nerd for sure. I missed the X-files form back in the day as well, and in my last TV review I feel that Fringe really covers that ground nicely. Warehouse 13 has a skully and moulder tandem thing going on as well and it works so far.

I love the main story of the series. Yes, it is about mystical objects, and warehouse 13 is run by some elite underground government agency that is high up in the ranks. Agents Peter Lattimer and Myka Bering run around the world collecting strange objets that cause strange things, and anything you can imagine starts happening. I am really impressed with the acting, and story telling in this series. I thought I would hate it, but the syfy channel is really coming up with brilliant stuff these days. Despite star gate atlantis being canceled :( (who cares stargate universe is here now!)

Imagine raiders of the lost ark meets Xfiles. The special fx are decent, and there is a good budget for this. Nothing looks lame, the warehouse where they store everything is really cool. I also really liked the other main character in the show Arthur “Artie” Nielsen who plays the boss of the two agents and the main manager of the warehouse. I also really liked the red head side kick Claudia Donovan, and the inn keeper Leena. Also Mrs. Irene Frederic played by C. C. H. Pounder who was on that fx show the shield(which i loved) with Michael Chiklis. Great acting and story telling. My favorite episode is “Implosion” where one of Artie’s old friend comes back into play as an enemy using imploding devices. I love the weird gadgets! I give this a 4 out of 5. I’ve known of this since I was a teenager, saw it coming miles away, and was baffled how long it took. I read Das Kapital when I was a teenager, and really understood capitalism, it’s nature. Deep in my heart, I have always been a communist, when I was young I believed in the revolution, was a part of the socialist workers party for a little while, participated in public debates with union workers and black rights activists. I used to protest. Over time, I realized that an armed revolution against the powers that control america would be impossible. They are globalized now, and their secrecy is very good. The only way to stop them would be to get 70% of the population to revolt and stop working for them, and taking back what belongs to the working class and to win over the military(yeah right).

What I discovered growing up in my 20s was that people really do not give a shit, If they had their cars, their tvs, their drugs, fast food and a job, they didn’t care at all about politics as long as they get their caffeine, food and tv fixes. A divided world, and Alienated world of selfish people who just want all of the above and sex. I used to think they were brainwashed. They are, but I also believe they have been toyed with on every level, from nutrition, to psychological warfare on the tv, books, and in the religions. The snakes of the world sold this slavery to us, and most people are not even aware that they are in fact slaves.

What sold me on communism as a youth was simple. I never believed that the means of subsistence should be gambled with. The stock market is pure ANARCHY. The means of our very lives should not be bet on like it’s some crap shoot by a bunch of slimy capitalists who want to make wealth without working. The basic standards of living should always be covered, health care, housing food, and yes, everyone should have to work for this basic standard, even at gun point if need be. If everyone pitched in, EVERYONE, the work would be so much less, and your work day would be like 4 hours. This made the most sense to me, and still does. But then there is the part of me that watched so called communism in other countries, where they treated gays like criminals in cuba, abused human rights, and dulled down the human race artistically. That is not me either. It is what led me away from the communist party. It is what leads me away from all social parties, they all seem to witch hunt and oppress.

I am now a misanthrope. Why? Pollution as I showed you before. More than that though, the fact that the working class is the problem, they allow for all of this to happen, they do all the work, the killing, the wars, the psychological warfare, the religion, everything. The working class is to blame for capitalism. They have the power to stop all of this, but they refuse, they bought into their own slavery with glee. This is what makes me have nothing but contempt for my fellow man even above my cries of animal rights, and human rights. Letting the capitalist have all the wealth while we die and hate each other and climb the totem, I just have no love for this way of life, it breaks my heart. I used to be a humanist. But look at how we all sold out the human race, with pollution, religion, laziness on the environment, and gluttony.

We now have socialism for the banks. Not for us working class, but the banks ahahaahahahahaahahah. I used to care. Yes, the capitalists won. Because even if this thing collapses, and it will, we will never get past this and get away from slavery, they will just commit genocide and start the slavery all over again on our ashes, and no one FUCKING CARES!!!!!
