There is a new patch for socom coming out that might fix a lot of the problems and make me not hate it as much, but we shall see.

Presentation: 8.4
Very well done, The art style, the colors, the menus, everything is spot on. The story mode is really cool, kind of abstract and weird.

Visuals: 9.0
A lot of stuff going on at once, in high res. It looks amazing, it is a simple arcade break out thing, but still I love the colors and explosions and how things break apart etc etc.

Audio: 9.7
The sound FX are great, but it’s the music that really makes this game kick so much ass when it comes to the style. Oldschool electro, with this video game vibe to it. It was so good, my buddy Krztov went out and bought it, and it’s all he listens to as of now. It reminds me of new young pony club, meets bennie benassi, meets video game music. Hip.

Game Mechanics: 9.0:
This is where the game is better than any other break out style game ever made. The regular movement controls are kind of twitchy, so you need to learn to slightly tap or push just right or you over compensate really easy. The cool thing is the vacuume and blow functions, the r1 r2, l1 l2 buttons. This gives you control over the projectile that I have not seen in any game like this. Yes, this is just break out with a twist, but a brilliant twist at that. You also collect power ups, that allow you to shoot a mega gun from your block. this looks so cool and adds yet another super fun dimension to this style of game. Fighting some of the bosses really makes you think of using these powers in weird ways.

Replay:7.0
There are some trophies, but other than, that, if you get hooked hardcore to this, the game is not that long. Who cares, if you get addicted. No multiplayer, this is strictly an arcade game.

For 7.99, this is one of the best buys on the playstation network. If they upgrade this more, make a online multiplayer mode, will buy any expansions they release for this amazing game. It’s so cheap, go get it now if you like these kind of games, seriously, this is better than arkanoid and breakout and all the others put together!

Where to start. Ok. THIS IS THE BEST FILM EVER MADE!!!!! GO SEE IT NOW!. ok, now that I got that out of the way let me explain. This to me is pretty damn cyber punk, also, reminded me a lot of the first robocop which is also one of my favorite films of all time. The grunt bad guys “private military” reminded me of the bad guys in robocop in a weird way. I was not expecting what I saw, when the movie first starts, you think you are watching a documentary.

As a misanthrope, it shows the human race in a way that really makes me hate them as I do. When you watch it, you will see why. I really do not want to give away too much, but man, the special fx, how it looks, how it was filmed, the characters, the aliens, the story, how it all works out. AMAZING!!! I need some new sci fi that breaks ground, and this one does it in ultra violent colors. SPLAT!!! GO SEE THIS NOW!! 10 out of 5!!!!!!

Opening words: $15? $15? Really? This really does feel like a full retail game for $15. Does the world need another ww2 game?

Multiplayer: 9.0
At the heart of this game, is the same game engine that made their other game “BAD COMPANY” kick ass. The game mechanics are spot on, and I prefer this to even call of duty’s glitchy controls. This seems a lot more smooth. Its really easy to hop on with friends, a squad of 4, and get into a game. This really feels like ww2, the good thing is it’s japan vs usa, instead of the nazi thing again and again. Fighting on these asian islands really is a lot of fun, the terrain is great, and running and driving around with friends and killing people is great fun. They nail this aspect of the game, you get in a game fast, this is more like the perfect shooter for on the go people who just want to pop in and play for 10 minutes and then leave. So in that regard it is like other PSN games.

Presentation: 8.4
The menus are easy to navigate, simple, look great. The load screens showing the islands is perfect. Everything seems spot on for a $15 game. My one gripe is that there is only one game mode, and the way the game selects the maps is really stupid, sometimes you will play the same map over and over and over, like 5 times in a row sometimes. There are only 3 maps. But sometimes it feels like there is only one because of how stupid the random map selector is. There is a ranking system, but it is for bragging rights only, it unlocks nothing, and gives you no extra abilities.

Visuals: 9.1
So surprised that this is a psn download game, doesn’t come on a blue ray or dvd. They did improve the BAD COMPANY engine, this looks a lot cleaner. The details are great, and yes you can shoot down the trees, and blow holes in buildings. Sure it looks like the old stale ww2 thing again, it’s ok, because it looks so polished.

Audio: 7.0
Classical typical war type music you hear in every game these days, only one song though, boring. Sound fx are well done, explosions, and the being dazed fx are really great. The cars and tanks and planes all sound spot on as well.

Game Mechanics: 8.9:
I really like how this game controls, driving the vehicles takes some getting used to as the acceleration and deceleration buttons are not like other games. Flying the planes is a game unto itself and its not easy. There are gun turrets as well that can get you big kill streaks if you hop on one at the right time. That is what is so great about this game, about the only thing I do not like is, when you have a big team, and you are not in a squad, spawning into bases without transportation is a bummer, you end up running on foot for miles and miles, so slow. And yes, the maps are pretty big. This is basically capture the zones and hold them and advance, try to capture every section of the map. So this is not just death match. and as far as I know this is the only game mode in the game. Doesn’t bother me at all. I like it. There are only three character classes, not many weapons to choose from. Medium range(grenade launcher), Short range(wrench, rocket launcher), Long range(samurai sword). I totally sucked until I played with the medium range character. In fact i thought this game sucked until I used that character. with a 24 player max, this game is not really pushing boundaries. It is enough though. This game does rely on strategy and playing defense, if your team does not play in this way, you will lose fast. The enemies all have marks over their head so you can tell which side they are on, but this makes it hard to snipe under cover, because they can always find you. There is unlimited ammo but this is balanced by long reload times, and how fast you can die. There is regen health as well. Over all, this is a lot of fun though, even with it’s flaws.

Replay:9.0
This is a great psn game, easy to get in and out. Great if you want the fps experience and don’t want to get up and switch the blue ray. Loads fast. This is the perfect FPS fix.

I am not into FPS much these days, I only want to play mag and bad company 2. modern warfare 2. I am just so sick of them all after resistance 2, killzone 2, cod4, cod waw. Just boring. Socom is all I play now. But this really satisfies my fps itch, with out having to spend a lot of money. For $15, it is simply a no brainer if you are into FPS at all.
