A toy box on acid. Yay for psychedelic alternative rock from the early 80s. This is one of my favorite spin off bands of all time. Steven Severin Bass Player from Siouxsie and the banshees, and Robert Smith from the cure. After Robert Smith and Simon Gallup had their fist fight and disaster tour for the pornography record(the darkest cure lp to date and one of my favs), and after Siouxsie and Bungie went off to do the first Creatures LP. These two blokes hooked up and made one of the best LPs I have ever heard. Jeanette Landray (Steven’s then GF) a dancer ended up doing most of the vocals.

Orgy, the above clip, is my favorite song on this LP. Really magical and seductive and trippy and organic. Love how it sways and sounds like a snake charmer dance. LOVE IT. This LP, the glove is based on the Floating glove in the beetles “yellow submarine movie”. Also the lp title was lifted from a movie (where a bunch of people take LSD called “Blue Sunshine” and 10 years later become murderers. Now you know where vac gets its drug influences from. :)

This is what i grew up on, the cure, and these weird side projects of both siouxie and the cure. I still listen to this, I recently bought the re release, but now they have released a deluxe version with tons of out takes and demos. If you are into the new wave sound of bands like the cure, this is right up your alley. I am really fond of the female vocals, Robert does sing on two songs. I prefer the female vocals to his on this.

My favorite songs are, Orgy, Like an Animal, Sex Eye Make Up, Looking Glass Girl, Punish me With Kisses, This Green City, Perfect Murder, Relax is amazing(reminds me of carnage visors). This is an amazing LP. Very derivative of the cure and siouxsie, but heavily influenced by the more psychedelic sounds of the beetles. So 80s, very 80s. If you like the 80s, this is great.

I give this a 5 out of 5. This is one of those rare hard to find things that has recently gotten the remastering facelift, and man it sounds good. Tons of flanger and chime sounds, trippy. Me loves this. This had a huge influence on VAC in the begining, and on the new LP “Black Rainbows” that will come out this fall from VAC. Click Here to Buy Amazon mp3s drm free at 256 compression.
