Oh boy, a wild wild west version of Grand Theft Auto with horses instead of cars, oh boy. WTF were they thinking?

Presentation: 9.5
They really do a great job at presenting the game to you in the old west style, Rockstar never fails at this. The acting is good, the graphics are good, the menu system is easy to figure out.

Single Player: 9.5
So, if you have played grand theft auto, this will seem kind of familiar. Aiming, auto aim, button configs are the same. Riding the horses takes some getting used to and believe it or not, I really loved it. You have to get the timing of hitting the button in a good rhythm to get the best out of your horse, to much and he will buck you off, you have to watch the blue bar on the lower left indicator. They are a little stiff to control, but its kind of fun. This game progresses just like the Grand Theft Auto games. This has a big huge open world you can explore, ignore the story, and do petty side missions like, break and capture horses, you can gamble in every town(Texas hold em, and all kinds of games), Random missions will find you by strangers in peril, they don’t vary unless you travel far. The story is pretty good, it surprised me. Some of the missions you have to herd cattle, lol. This game turned me into a red neck. Kind of fun, a lot more fun than I thought. You can be good or evil. You can help people or hurt them. If you are bad guy, you get bounties on your head all the time, and will be under attack randomly all the time. I really liked when you go to Mexico, the story gets even more interesting in Mexico. I loved the ending, It made me go WTF, I played as a hero. I wont ruin it so.

Visuals: 8.9
This is the GTA engine, they made it look nice, the deserts, the mountains, the red rocks, the sunsets, the open world, the towns, the people, the details, the characters, everything is better here than in gta I think. More refined and more convincing. Some slow down happens when a lot of stuff is going on. Over all I am very impressed.

Audio: 9.2
There is not the massive sound track that is found in the GTA games, but what is here fits right. The voice acting is amazing in this game, better than so many other games on the market.

Game mechanics: 9.7
It’s the same as GTA4 exactly for the most part. What really kicks ass is red eye, when you build up your red eye gauge, in the lower left corner, the red bar, you hold aim and hit r3, everything gets red and goes into slow motion, then you aim on what you want to shoot hit r1 to tag it, and x will appear, then move to the next target, you can get head shots if you want, when you are done or if the red eye runs out, hit the r2 to set it off, and man it does this rapid fire shooting that just rips people up. In single player its slow motion, in multi-player its just rapid fire., red eye works in both modes even though they are slightly different. Red eye really is what makes this game so damn cool to me. Riding the horses is cool as well, they did a good job making you hit x for spurs. The duels are really fun as well, when you get challenged to a duel, its a mini game, you have to draw, then the cursor pulses, you have to aim it on the part of of the body you want to hit, then hit the fire button right when the cursor pulses white, who ever gets the most shots on time, wins the duel. This can be really hard. Not as bad once you get used to it. I love putting on the cheaters clothing, then get caught cheating at cards, lol, then its duel time. Another good this is the carriages, they are like cabs, you can find these in the major cities and allow you to fast travel at a price, I used these a lot so I didn’t have to ride my horse every where. This really helps. People complain about the auto aim, you can play in online games hardcore with no auto aim, but honestly, when riding on a horse or a car, I like auto aim and can see why this is here, not to mention, to make the game more mainstream and easy for the unskilled. I like the auto aim. I am skilled as well, so..

Online: 8.0
This is where the game really shines, I could not stop laughing the first time I got on, I was a dirty bum and all I could ride was an obnoxious donkey that was slow as fuck, lol. You have to run around and do missions in the free roam to get xp points, which allows you to select different characters and horses and guns for the free roam world, then you can make posses, and join up with friends, and do do all the missions in the free roam, or have the leader of the posse select free for all modes, gang modes, and then you can play as a team. In the vote lobby, once you vote you can run around an assault people in the world, this is so awesome. Even better is the shootout at the beginning of the rounds, team shoot outs or free for all, has a count down, then a sudden randomly timed draw, then who every shoots the fastest wins. This is amazing, another thing that really adds to the fun of the game.

Replay:10
Being able to play as a good guy, or a bandit really makes this worth playing twice. The online modes are better than any gta modes, I find this is more like the old old socoms in some ways, fun to just run around and shoot. The online mode makes this something to keep, not to mention there will be co-op dlc coming out soon, free too, not to mention the other dlc rock star always plans. This is a keeper. I can see myself playing this for ages. It is so different.

Total score: 10
This game is amazing, it totally surprised me, I was not expecting to like a red neck game at all. I have to say this is probably the most fun I have had in a game for a long time. I liked the story, the characters, the open world, the graphics, the side missions, all the mini games, and they way the executed it all. This is now my favorite game of all time, I never would of thought this could beat out my other old favorites. I have had more fun with this game than any other game in the last 20 years. I love the GTA games so this is why, if you don’t like the gta games, stay far away from this.

Opening words:
When these came out for the xbox 360, I never thought I would play them, I boycotted the system due to the red ring of death and all the anti trust stuff Microsoft did back in the day before george bush pardoned them and dropped the charges. I still don’t like microsoft for that very reason to this day. Finally they came out for the ps3, I never thought it would happen. Timing was great as well, when there was nothing else to play. So glad microsoft didn’t own the rights forever. If you think you have to own the original GTA4 to play these games, you don’t, you can download from psn, or buy them both on one blueray disc for $39.99. works fine with out GTA4.

Presentation: 9.1
Amazing, in both games they put you in their world. The art direction, acting, stories, everything is spot on. This is why I play these games, the characters usually rock. Menu system is like gta 4, phone works the same as well.

Single Player: 9.5
These games are not as deep as the main GTA4 story, and that is a good thing, it does not drag on like GTA4 did. I honestly liked these expansions even more than the main game. This game plays exactly like GTA4, the vehicles control the same, with exception to the bikes which the really refined for lost and the damned. To me, these games are what is lacking in modern rpgs and why I tend to like the sandbox games better now than the jrpgs of today. Interesting characters and good story telling is in these games, and not to be found for miles and miles in any rpg these days. In this game, you will be parachuting out of planes, drive by shootings, chasing down people on bikes and shotgunning them in the back, the missions are insane in both episodes. Epic, so Epic in parts. You can still hang out with your friends and go drunk driving, you can roam the city doing stunts or just randomly kill people for fun and try and evade the cops.

Lost and the Damned: 9.6
Seriously one of the best sandbox stories I have played in a long time. You play a dude from a biker gang, the old boss gets out of jail and starts acting like a jack ass, all kinds of drama ensues. There are a lot of great missions, great acting, with good story telling. I love driving the bikes, love the driving formations that you have to hold when going to some missions. The bike racing to missions was a really nice touch. I loved the double barrel shot gun when you were riding the bikes, so much fun to drive around and blow people away. Over all this is worth ever penny of the 20 dollars it will cost you to download it off the playstation network. This game me feel like white trash, and I loved every minute of it. Most of all what made the lost and the damned so special was the new sound track, sure you had the standard 70s butt rock that defaults on every harley you get on, but honestly switch the station to the right a few times till you hear DEATH METAL! Holy shit, some of the best death metal too, it totally got me back into bands I had forgot about like Deicide and Bathory. WOW, mowing down people on my bike with death metal blasting, that really speaks to my soul.

The Ballad of Gay Tony: 9.4
Almost as good as lost and the damned. I played this 2nd. You basically play the bodyguard of a gay club owner who has a long history in the nyc club nightlife. His businesses are dwindling, Its up to you to help him get on his feet again and save the clubs. It’s funny, you can go to the clubs and schmooze and help the clubs because your personality is revered in the night life scene by the female patrons. I really liked the helicopter missions in this game, better than the ones in gta4. I really liked some of the characters, Yusuf made me shit my pants on how over the top and silly he was. I really liked most of the missions in this game. The night life theme is funny as hell, going into gay clubs and watching the people dance was great fun, so was getting in there and dancing as well. The dancing mini game was funny, its how you could win a female over and go fuck in the bathroom, LOL. I did not spend a lot of time doing that, did it once and was like WOW WTF. but it helps the clubs be packed and make money so its something you have to do in the game, be a whore. LOL

<<

Visuals: 7.0
This game engine looks very dated now compared to other sand box games on the PS3 like infamous and just cause 2. Still it is good enough to tell the stories in a grand fashion and get the points across in the GTA gritty way that works very well. There is pop up and slow down when a lot of action happens in some cases. There is a ton of detail in the world, it looks the same to me as GTA4 over all from what I can remember. They did add detail for the themes of each games in the night clubs and the biker gangs.

Audio: 10
MotherFucking DEATH METAL! Great voice acting is really amazing like all the games rockstar does these days. They hire quality people. The sound fx are great as well. The music and they way the do it in these games is just amazing.

Game mechanics: 9.0
It’s the same as GTA4 exactly. I did notice that the bikes did handle better than in gta4. I noticed the boats being a tad different as well, and the different helicopters really add a different feel as well. I think there a few new cars as well that drive a bit different.

Replay: 8.0
The online modes really can bring you back into the game even months afterwards. Even playing through the missions twice is fun, also, there is a points system on the ballad of gay tony to complete missions with better stats.

Online: 8.0
It has all the same modes as GTA4 With the addition of Witness Protection and Chopper vs. Chopper. In Witness Protection one team plays as the NOOSE officers escorting a witness to one of the police stations in Liberty City, while the other team plays as The Lost, trying to kill all of them. Very cool.

Total score: 9.2
This is worth the 40 bucks you will pay for both. Seriously the most fun I have had gaming this year. I wish I had gotten to play these way back when they were first released on the xbox 360, but honestly, now is fine too, right in the middle of a drought.

Opening words:
Final fantasy 13 has a lot to make up for in my opinion, ff12 was majorly boring to me, it was here, program scripts and watch your fighters fight. The battle systems have been going down hill after ff10. We all know that final fantasy games are very beautiful, and this installment is no exception. we waited a long time for this game, does it live up to the expectations? HELL NO!!!!!!!!

Presentation: 9.5
The presentation on this is absolutely amazing, one of the prettiest video games I have ever seen, it rivals all the top games out in terms of graphics, the story telling is great. The menus are typical final fantasy. One thing that I really hated though was having to go to the us menu to see the world map.

Single Player: 6.5
ON THE RAILS. You will feel like a bull being pulled by his nose ring down a predictable path. It’s like they went to nintendo and asked, “how do you make games for normal people and five year olds”‘ and Nintendo gave them an on the rails blueprint. The game is impressive at first, until you realize that you have no control over your team, who’s in it, and what they do in battle. Visually there is no other rpg on this level as far as cut scenes and in game graphics. However the pacing of the story telling is so drawn out, too little to often. I like more game play then a big cut scene. Like ramping up the excitement in a way that is thrilling, this is not the case in this game. Instead the story is told over a long period of time with cut scenes to often. I don’t mind the characters all that much and the voice acting doesn’t drive me crazy like in some other recent RPGs. Over time, a long time, they slowly give you normal rpg features, like who’s in your team, and what skill sets your characters can develop. Sad thing is that by the time the game let’s you have any control, you get bored. Later in the game, they throw you into an open world you can even explore. the problem is, this is like 45 hours into the game. At this point I got really tired of the game, the bad guys in this land are all like mini bosses, and the battles take way to long and there are so many of them, and there all these side quest you need to do in order to level up to end the game. It’s boring at this point in the game. I did like it at first, but honestly it just gets tedious and boring toward the end.

Visuals: 9
Seriously one of the best looking games on the market. The FMV, and the game engine are gorgeous on the ps3. The detail in the monsters and environments is great in some parts. Some of the world environments are kind of boring though. The characters look good, some of the clothing is very lame though. Reminds me of final fantasy 10′s Hawaii surfer look. Blah. One ing i hated is the battle graphics, ey are pretty, but hard to tell what is going on. You never really see the bad ass magic because everything is so washed out in the realtime battle s esteem, and your characters wondern in close together and it gets confusing, stupid how they wander in clumps and when everyone is casting and fighting it just looks like a big blob of shit flying around getting mixed together, i wish it was separated like the old games were and you could see the magic clearly and really appreciate the graphics.

Audio: 5.6
The music sucks. It’s so generic and has nothing in common with the old games that had great music. BAD vocals plague the songs constantly. STUPID LYRICS. The voice acting is ok, nothing great, but not the worst. Not impressed with the audio at all.

Game mechanics: 5.0
This is where the game really fails compared to the past versions in the series. You cannot have more than 3 people in your party, and then you cannot even control the other players. It picks your partners for up to 40 hours of the game play. every character can have different skill sets, but they feel so crippled. You have to do so much grinding, its so annoying in the later levels because of how long the battles take on the more advanced creatures, they all become like boss battles, and i never ever felt like i was a bad ass towards the end of the game. You have the option to pick from a very limited attack moves depending on the class you are, or auto battle, and in the end you just end up auto battling all the time so the game is like pushing one button all the time. Since the characters have different skills, you can set up different attack lay outs with the different skills. You do this by building your paradigms, this allows you to set up which mode your characters can be in, medic, magic, combat, synergist, saboteur, sentinel. This is the only thing that makes the fighting interesting, you have to switch modes in battle to heal, but you still do not have direct control over other party members while in battle, so they will stupidly heal the wrong person at times and you will die because of it. This is a real time combat system, where your meter builds up and then you perform the move, you can build combos, or auto battle. It gets so boring and tedious. They do unlock stuff later on, like let you chose your party, and there is this upgrade grind thing, but its so linear and boring, you never really customize what you unlock, and most of the upgrades are things that happen automatic in battle and you have no control over them. LAME. Just like in the last final fantasy, they made the summons boring, you summon your aeon, and then you control it and no one else is in the battle, I liked how it was in ff7 and ff10, where you summons, it runs its movie and does its damage, then its over. So they fucked up the Summons on this game as well, just like ff12. The last good FF game was ff10. Seriously.

Replay: 6.0
If you like a boring battle system that is really pretty and blabbed up in the heat of battle, that grinds into infinity with bad pacing, sure torture yourself and come back and play it over and over. There is a lot of game play here, too much.

Total score: 6.5
It is above average, but has to many issues to make it a fun engaging game. It feels a lot like the last one, where you don’t feel in control. The way they paced the game is terrible. All the pretty graphics in the world cannot save it from its boring battle system, boring fights. The story is OK, its not amazing, but its OK. I played it to see the ending, but unless you grind in pulse, you get your ass kicked at the end, and when they finally open up the world to you for exploring, you are already bored of the battle system, the tedious long mini boss battles that are happening constantly. This was a huge disappointment. Save your money, it’s not even worth a rent. Go buy White Knight or Star Ocean on ps3. This is a waste of time and money. If you are mainstream and like simple un complicated tedious battles, this is really pretty and you might like it. If you come from the old school RPG days, you will really hate this. Don’t waste your time. Hell I even liked Demon Souls more than this.

Opening words: It’s been a real long time since I have played an adventure game. This game brings that genre back to the forefront. With stunning visuals, a great story, and a quick time event system and the best use of six axis motion controls to date on the PS3, an adult themed game that is not totally immature BS. Grim indeed.

Presentation: 9.8
The best presentation I have seen in a game yet. The story telling is amazing. The look and feel of everything is really good. The menu system is great. The Forensics glasses on the FBI character is phenomenal. Very easy to get into a game and play.

Single Player: 9.1
I was expecting a lot from this game. At first I was disappointed because it kind of starts out slow. Plus you bounce around from character to character slowly figuring out what is going on. After I adjusted to this and one of the first epic like amazing fight sequences happened, I could not put down the controller. This game really got my heart pounding in some parts. Sure it is mostly on the rails, and severely limited on what you can do in the actual game environment. It is not like those old PC sierra games at all. I never played indigo prophecy, so I have no clue what that is like. I was not put off by how linear the game was over all because it told the story so well. I beat it in about 10 hours. Almost perfect for this kind of game. I wanted a little bit more story though in the end. I hope there is DLC. In the end, I loved playing the game from all the different points of view. I loved how the story slowly unravels from all sides.

Visuals: 8.7
The characters look simply amazing, especially close in. The environments do to in certain scenes. Sometimes though, some things could look a little corny, the cars, objects and other things that were not focused on could suffer at times. This did not deter me at all. To me, this game reminded me of Shen Mu on the Sega Dreamcast on super steroids and more on the rails. I really liked the look and feel of the game over all. It really drew me in.

Audio: 9.2
The sound quality is amazing on this title. The voice acting is really well done by most of the characters. The sound track was really well done adding tension and sorrow when needed. The club scene was good as well.

Game Mechanics: 9.2:
The controls were strange, kind of like a throw back to alone in the dark or something like that on the old playstation 1. You have a walk button, which is r2, then you aim where you want to go, and that aiming changes when the camera changes. The camera works well and usually is in the right place. You can also toggle the camera view with a button and this was super helpful. Everything you can interact with will pop up as you pass it, you don’t have to guess and search hard like old adventure games made you. You can hear what your character is thinking, and this will give you clues, there is a button for this you hold down, then words will fly around your head with a button icon, you select one and your character will talk in his head. When you get into an action sequence, you will get thrown into quicktime events(like in god of war when you jump on the boss and it says “PRESS THIS BUTTON” if you don’t do it fast enough or hit the wrong one, you miss). This was made famous by games like Dragons Lair on laser disc way back in the day. This was a very refined version of it though. Like when you are the FBI investigator, you have to climb this hill, and it slowly makes you hold button combinations down, and it can make you feel like you are playing a game of Twister on your controller. At first I was weirded out by it but I did get used to it, and in the end it was magical. What I loved as well was the six axis controls, when jerking stuff around, and trying to escape situations, or fighting, it really made me feel like I was franticly trying to get away or survive, and the motions were consistent with the real world motions. Playing as the FBI investigator blew me away, his cyber glasses, virtual crime lab. It was so cool. One of my favorite things ever in a game.

Replay: 7.0
Being able to make choices, and say certain things effects the out come of the game, and the type of game ending you will get. There is a way to play so that everyone you play as will die, and it’s grim, or so i have read. I played as a good person through and through, except, I did shoot the religious jesus freak in the head with out hesitation LOL. Seriously though, this is worth buying if you want to play it and get the different endings. I see myself playing this through 2 or 3 times total.

Total Score: 9.3 out of 10:
I really hope they make more games like this in the future. I really am hoping for DLC. I really hope this sells well. If you like adventure games on the PC, or old consoles, this one really delivers. It starts slow, but it gets really good. It makes you make tough decisions, and in some it can strike a nerve, and even make you cry if you are in the right mind space. My dog just passed away, so this did jerk some tears out of me. I really like how the menus in this are laid out, probably my favorite for this type of game so far. I love the look of the factions, Sver: the rag tag rebels, Raven: spoiled brat techno euro military, Valor: yankee yahoo army look. Customizing is limited but good enough when it comes to the look and feel of your characters. I love the load out screens, the barracks where you upgrade and see stats. There is a shadow war, 3 Private Military firms are fighting for contracts. You join one to try and gain control of mission types etc. This is a pretty cool premise for a game. They did a good job on this. There are a lot of ribbons to be won, a lot of trophies as well!

Multiplayer: 9.7
What can I say, I played the beta since it started, and I loved it then. The final beta was really close to what the release is. They did improve the graphics a bit and polished it and made the frame rate a little better. Seriously, I thought I was over First Person Shooters and was die hard socom dlc. Now that this has come out, I have not touched socom. This game has the same team play, sucks because when people don’t have a mic its hard to get the team stuff working, communication is key. I love all the different factions and guns. I love the different game modes. This is the first game I have played that actually made me feel like I was in a war. There is a lot to this game and that is what made me really latch on to it. It’s not mindless arcade BS like Call of Duty. There is a point, there are objectives, and when you lose you really feel like you lose. When you win, you feel really good from it. It’s hard. It requires team work. With out team work, you will get your ass kicked. Good games come from two good teams fighting to the end. This game is like battle field bad company meets socom on steroids. The socom influence is the team work aspect. You must blow up structures so your enemies cannot spawn from them. This creats ebb and flow. You can push forces back, and this is really cool. The maps are huge(don’t worry, learn to use vehicles and spawn points correctly and traveling is not such a problem). I really love when you take out the AAA you get to parachute in when you respawn. This is the first time in a game where I have experienced this!

The world is detailed well, trees and plants look good, the ground looks good, characters look good. Just about everything looks good, but nothing is jaw dropping or breath taking. The water is kind of lackluster, as are the splash mechanics(cant have it all in a game like this, this is no killzone). That being said, it still looks nextgen, and with 256 players at once it does a great job. My one complaint is the POP up, there is a lot of that in the draw distance. When you play in domination, when everyone bottle necks in some parts of the map, when you get a lot of players in one place, the frame rate can get pretty bad. I didn’t mind this to much, the game mechanics still seems to work fine in the slow down. For the most part, in the other game modes, the frame rate is really solid.

Audio: 9.0
Sounds in this game are great. The music that comes in when you get kill streaks going is pretty funny and it’s different for every faction, its way to country and lame on VALOR so i never would want to play on that faction just for that reason alone. The mics work really well, and they are open, very surprising. There is also proximity chat as well.

Game Mechanics: 9.5:
The aiming in this is perfect. It takes skill and the default controls are set up just right. Shooting mechanics are right on, way better than call of duty’s. Game Modes: Suppression(32v32team death match), Sabotage(32v32 invade, defend key points on the map, prevent or commence demolition), Acquisition(64v64 player, invade, steal vehicles and break down a path for this to happen, or prevent that from happening), Domination(128v128, Invade and take over huge structure with 256 players total). The command structures are really cool, you can be a squad leader, platoon leader, or the OIC. Squads are 8 players, platoons are 4 squads, OIC is the lead of all platoons. You can apply to be a squad leader, a platoon leader, or the OIC once you level up enough. as a squad leader, you can set objectives, when people follow the objectives they get double points which helps them climb through the ranking system faster and unlock guns, and abilities. As squad leaders you will have access to Recon and Cluster bomb attacks. As a platoon leader you have access to Sensor Sweeps, Poison Gas bombardment, Precision Strikes, and Strafing Run. As the OIC you have access to Satellite Sweep, Coms Jamming, Signals Jamming, Rapid Redeploy/Barricade, Tactical Strike refresh for all leaders. You can call in air strikes but only if your team as taken out the AAA unless you are defending, then you can call in mortar strikes any time, but you have to wait a while after you use them. This adds an element of strategy to the game that really sets it above the others. Also as leaders you also give out buffs aka perks. These usually only work for people if they stay around the squad leaders. You get more points and perks for doing that. This game is deeper than all the other first person shooters. the armor and weapons are cool. I prefer the guns on SVER: the AK74u, AG94, AK103, IZ-443, Kurtis 45, RTK-74, PSK MG, Vipera-2, T-195, SASR, S-98, AGVK. VALOR: m4a1, SFCR-LW, SFCR-HW, M9, Hollis MP, Mk 46, Mk 43, KP5, 12 Gauge, MK 14, L96AW, Rollins. RAVEN: ATAC 2000, Hollis A3, R-553, Pistol, KP7, Apex 100, KP45 MG, F90, Boudini, H M 90, Janas, AM50. You spawn in WAVES, sometimes you are waiting for 18 seconds to respawn but when you do, you will respawn with other players, the game encourages you to move in packs. LAG is not really a problem in this game. Seriously, I see it now and then, and it is super rare. I have never been kicked out of a game or anything like that. Even thought there is 256 players, the frame rate takes a hit when there are a ton of people on the screen firing, but not LAG. There are many ways you can upgrade your character, Medic, Heavy Weapons, Electronics, Mines, Sniper, Assault. I find the best thing to do is to pick two, I am heavy gunner and medic and it works out great for me, and raising your fallen teammates gets you more points than kills and encourages team work!

Replay: 10
I have not had this much fun in a first person shooter ever. The leveling system, the perks are all balanced, and it gets hard to advance once you get to about level 40, getting to 60 will take a while, you will want to unlock more and more stuff. Then you will want to try to play with all the different PMCs. If they have DLC, more weapons, more maps, this will be something I will play probably the whole lifetime of the PS3. No kidding, this made me SELL, yes SELL Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. As far as first person shooters, this one beats them all. Mechanics, action, strategy, vehicles, the weapons, the player types. Wow it is deep. Deep enough to keep you coming back for more.

Total Score: 9.6 out of 10:
They pulled it off. I am impressed. This is the first game I have played that made me feel like I was in an actual war type situation. The maps are massive, tons of action. Magical when you have a cool klan or a team with players who have mics and work together well. The sad thing is that so many people don’t have mics, and that can ruin the game, we will usually try to kick out a platoon or squad leader who does not have a mic, we will try to vote them out every time. I think it is so lame that Sony did not include a mandatory blue tooth head set in every copy of this game. It is a absolute must if you are going to play this.

Killzone 2. By far the most immersive single player FPS on the market. The controls have a realistic weight to them, some say lag, i think weight. I went back and played it again even after playing modern warfare 2. Killzone 2′s single player simply beat out the rest in all manners. The grim look and feel, the story, everything just seems more epic and immersive and pretty in that ugly dark way. The kill animations are amazing, the details in the environment, the lighting and particle effects. The sounds are amazing, the music is amazing. The DLC is really great as well. This is a must buy. The multiplayer feels like you you have under water controls. So for multiplayer Look elsewhere.

Best First Person Shooter Multiplayer Player:

MAG BETA. Yes the game is not even out, I played 2 of the Beta trials. This beats all other first person online games I have played this year, and it wasn’t even the full game. Huge maps, cool factions, great mechanics, cool guns, great leveling up system. Awesome team base tactical stuff. There is a point to the game, an end goal, medics rock, no re-gen without healing. Even in the bad frame rate 256 player mode, it is fun. The smaller 64 player modes were so tight and lag free and solid frame rate. This game rocks. When the beta ended I was like, OH NOOOOOOOOOOO. Great game mechanics, solid vehicle controls, you parachute in on some levels, so cool. I love the command structure, you set objectives as a commander, you can call in mortar or air strikes. So cool. It comes out jan 29th 2010 or something. So only a couple of weeks away. I cannot believe a BETA was better than all other commercial multiplayer fps products on the market. I can’t wait to get this, I am pre ordering it for sure.

Best DLC:

Socom Confrontation Cold Front. The dlc revolutionized a game that was sunk. It was a beta for a year, but now most of the problems have been worked out, and this is simply my favorite shooter of all time now. No re-spawn, Your life is important, you must not die, or you have to wait till everyone else dies to play again. This makes you play a more careful thought out game, unless you are an idiot. This game takes real skill unlike most other shooters. When you get decent at it, you get this sense of accomplishment that other games lack. Tis why I still play this game more than any other games on my ps3. The sense of community is great. When you die, you can talk to all the other dead people in the dead people lobby. You do a lot of socializing, this leads to online friendships, something I have never gotten from any other shooter. Then new guns, factions, maps, really opened the game up to sniping, and more strategic game play.

Best Racing:

Wipeout Fury Expansion. Completely revolutionized the game. Added new modes, new tracks, new music, the death match modes were the best, you could turn around on the track and chase down enemies behind you. Wicked graphics in 1080p. Simply a simple racing game, with air ships, weapons and break neck speeds.

Best Story:

Batman Arkham Asylum. The presentation, and how the story was told, the pacing, the graphics, the characters, the acting, WOW. This was one of the most enjoyable games that I played all year. I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. I thought infamous was decent, but the acting in this edge it out, it sold the story better.

Best Sandbox Adventure Game:

Infamous. At first I did not like the game, It took me a while to get used to it, I thought he was too weak, but once i figured out the rpg upgrade elements, it started to feel right. Running around did get tedious, and the side missions were redundant and silly. The main quest was really good, the good vs evil thing was good, the sound was good, the acting was ok. The visuals were great, the mechanics were really good, and over all it was a fun single player experience.

Best Fighting Game:

Blazblue. Pretty. Responsive, 2d yes, but amazing character design, some of the best graphics I have ever seen in a fighting game. So many cool flashy moves. One of the most polished fighters ever made. Simply breath taking. Tekken could not even come close.

Best Role Playing Game:

Borderlands. Hands down, Sure there was demon souls, that game was so annoying, hard, and tedious, I like a challenge too, but that shit took too damn long. This, sure it’s an FPS, but man, they nailed it. It plays like call of duty with out the cheap easy auto aim. Diablo looting, and a huge world to explore. Amazing boss battles. Cool weapons and skills. Worth playing more than once. I kept this one to get the expansions for it. Cool driving. Awsome multiplayer. I am usually a jrpg freak. Ps3 didn’t get anything great jrpgs this year. So yes, best RPG is an FPS rpg. LOL.

Best Playstation Network Game:

Fat Princess. A top down hack and slash rpg online strategy game. Must play as a team, or you will get your ass kicked. Seriously, this is a ton of fun and has massive replay value. Lots of blood and funny voice acting. Something you can pick up and play and put down fast. Great fun.

Best Sports Game:

UFC Unleashed 2009. This is not just a fighting game, this is a sports RPG. The single player is great, you have to train, practice to unlock points to upgrade your character. True MMA experience, limited styles though, only 3 types of fighting to choose from, but close enough. Seriously the best game like this ever made. I cannot wait for the 2010 version.

Best Platformer:

Little Big Planet PSP. On the ps3 this was good, but I didn’t like the controls, the controls on the psp are kind of the same, but for some reason this game feels better on the psp than it does on the ps3, the ps3 version looks a lot better. But this really pushes the psp. Great music, great levels. Good controls. Unique. Create your own levels. This game really does deliver on many fronts. Highly Recommend this if you have a PSP.

Best PSP Game:

Resistance Retribution. This is hands down the best shooter ever made for the PSP. They captured the ps3 game on the psp. Even the aiming was not terrible, but damn sony for not putting another analog stick on the psp go. The story was better than resistance 2 on the ps3. The third person shooting was great. I think I would prefer resistance on the ps3 if it was 3rd person. This is the best game on the PSP to date in my opinion. Go buy this if you have a psp.

Game of the year:

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. It was so close, this or killzone 2. I feel that the single player experience in this edged out killzone 2′s. Multiplayer I still give to killzone 2. The multiplayer in this is really unique and great as well though. The acting, the story, the game mechanics, and the graphics, really the whole package and how it was put together from start to finish was the most polished out of any thing I have played ever. Not just this year, but of all time. This game was just the right length in its single player mode. The character development was good. The action sequences are the best yet. The attention to detail is spectacular. This is one of the best games of all time, not just this year. I tip my hat to naughty dog. The original Uncharted was good, but no where near this good.
